[shoutout] Blackhole Radio #9 March 2012

Blackhole Radio is back again! This time with a 9th edition (it appears that Hafiz Bastard was lazy in Jan and Feb, or busy... but whatever) that features a sick line-up of bands from around Asia. PLUTO and FUKK BAR CULTURE are 2 of the top ones, in our very humble opinion. Sometimes there're so many awesome punk bands in the region we can't catch up! So thank goodness for folks like Hafiz Bastard. Get into this.

[event] Hardcore Destruccion // 2nd Mar 2012 @ Chapter Six Studios

The tagline for Blackhole212 right now appears to be "no filthy money power, just DIY hardcore-punk." Damn right it is, count down to Mar 2 as they bring you a show with some of the sickest DIY hardcore-punk bands in the region, with raging d-beat punx WARTHREAT (AU) and punk rockers THE FRANKENSTONE (ID) headlining!

Enough said, we can already foresee this to be a blast. Details all on the flyer, see you there!

[shoutout] Blackhole Radio #8 December 2011

We're a bit late on this, but y'know, better late than never and all of that. Blackhole Radio closes the year with an 8th edition, as usual chock-full with hardcore-punk goodness. Where do we even start? One band we can't stop raving about at the moment is THE SECRET PROSTITUTES, which has one track in this podcast. Hailing out of the US, this 3-piece band features Indonesian lyrics courtesy of their Indonesian drummer. Expect some catchy but straightforward fast hardcore-punk! We're lovin' it.

[shoutout] Blackhole Radio #7 November 2011

November rolls around and Hafiz Bastard gives us yet another month of the now-infamous Blackhole212 Radio podcast. This month's selection features a good smattering of European punk amidst a few others from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the United States. If you didn't know DIY hardcore-punk is international, you better know it now.

Missed the other months'? You can still check them out here: http://blackhole212.podomatic.com/. That is the power of podcasts -- they're pretty much timeless, and it's never a case of snoozin' and losin'.

[shoutout] Blackhole Radio #6 October 2011

Blackhole Radio's Hafiz Bastard is at it again. They love skipping months, so we can only imagine this to be a bi-monthly thing (or at least, whenever he sees fit). This month, we see (and hear!) a playlist of tunes so punk you can't stop 'em comin'.

This month shows a good smattering of Australian and European hardcore-punk, not excluding a song from Swedish hardcore kids HÃ…RDA TIDER, who might just be coming down to SE Asia this December.

Look out!

[event] Night of Circle Pit #2 feat. Grand Hotel Paradox (AE) // 21st June 2011 @ The Substation

Night of Circle Pit #2
Presented by Prohibited Projects / Blackhole 212
Tuesday 21 June 2011, 7pm
The Substation Theatre
Admission: $8 available at the door

Grand Hotel Paradox is a DIY & independent punk band. The band performs punk music that experiments with harmony, rhythm and texture. Their performance at The Substation forms part of their South East Asia tour, which will also include shows in Malaysia and the Philippines.

In August 2010, Chris Ryan (Guitar/Vocals) was mixing live sound at a show that Mike Priest (Bass/Vocals) was playing with his band gopilot. After the soundcheck they talked for hours about genuine punk music with real emotion, energy, dynamics and true power. Grand Hotel Paradox was born when they were joined by Michael Sydenham on drums a few months later. In March 2011, the "First World Problems" EP was released online for free download or purchase. In June 2011, they will tour Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.

[shoutout] Blackhole Radio #3 March-April 2011

Hafiz Bastard from the Blackhole collective has been doing this radio series since the start of the year. Tunes focus heavily on the Asian DIY hardcore-punk scene, which may still be lesser-known to folks in the global scheme of things.
