Rumshot aka Firman
Firman has been in the music industry since his teenage years. Having been a percussionist and drummer for various acts, he is well rooted in the scene and has accumulated tons of experience. Rumshot, his stage moniker and alter-ego, rocks the floor with his all-time favourite selections for skanking. There is no time for breaks, Rumshot will keep you comfortably moving in your dancing shoes.

Ras Irie aka Wan
Wan is the founder of Straits Records - the sole record store in Singapore that offers a wide variety of alternative and hard-to-find collection of music and vinyl. He has been in the music scene for most of his life; an avid and recognized collector and distributor of music.

Sham Em aka Sham
Sham has been a music fanatic since his crazy, hazy teenagehood, with a no-holdsbarred attitude towards music, all in the name of (listening) pleasure. A percussionist, sound/music designer and ethnic music instrumentalist, Sham graces the decks with his borderless selections of Dub, Dubtronica, Dancehall and Reggae for our nights.

Guest DJ – Zul Subvert HQ
Subvert HQ (Singapore) have been holding parties since 1998 featuring the likes of Friction, Stamina MC, John B, A-Sides, Pendulum, Cyantific, Sonic, London Elektricity as well as recently Logistics and Hospital Records' Chris Goss. We've played everywhere from Hong Kong, London to most of Asia.
Zul had also graced the decks on Dub Skank'in Hifi's Birthday Bash. He's well informed with his music selection and had rocked the dance floor till the wee hours of the night. More music and info at: http://soundcloud.com/z-1/sets/subvert-sessions-podcast.

And they're back for the October session at Blu Jaz, with a special treat for their 1st birthday bash -- the debut of the Dub Skank'in Hifi house band INSTIGATOR AFRO ORCHESTRA plus four bands ranging from ska punk, indie/pop, experimental, to space rock. LIVE PERFORMANCES BY:

Hailing from JB/KL, these boys from the Nyaring (JB) label have been trailbrazing the ska-punk circuit up and down the Malaysian peninsular for a good few years. In their own words, "I See Dumb People (ISDP) isn't really a "ska-band", just a bunch of friends who have the same interests, same musical influences, and same passion, to be good at the instruments they play"

Basically, they started in 2008 and got their very 1st show at "Ska + Punk Rock = Unite!" in 2009. Released their 1st single in 2010, called "Is It Me Or My World".

Formed in 1996, The Marilyns have since moved away from their previous indie-funk sound and have a new direction in the band. Drawing their inspiration from a variety of music genres from the 70’s to the 90’s, they play an alternative blend of pop, dance and indie rock music. What remains is their repertoire of both Malay and English songs and part of The Marilyns' uniqueness... perhaps lies in this bilingual songwriting.

After more than 10 years and with new additions to the line-up, the band has a multi-layered magic that defines their style. As the band has developed, increasing their diversification of musicians they have increasingly becoming more comfortable and confident than ever with their songwriting and arrangement. Describing themselves humbly as 'a band which was never been big or small in terms of success, but just there as a loyal participant in the Singapore indie scene', the group’s free-for-all creative approach speaks of an easy-going but no less dedicated personality.

Their latest album to date is POP.SG, aptly named as every song tells a story about life in Singapore, from social issues, to love and struggles in life. It has not been smooth sailing trying to create a Singaporean pop album as the band tries not to sound too 'singlish' or too 'ang moh'.

The band have injected a breath of fresh air into their new album. They’ve got the services from Scott Hull to do the mastering for their current album. Just like other previous discographies under Scott Hull Mastering charge (Panic@the Disco, John Meyer, Garbage & etc), POP.SG will be subjected to the “raw creative energy” and “passion” that Scott Hull Mastering represents, turning it into a form of music that "has never been heard before."

"Rock, Soul & Magical"

These are the qualities that can best described the trio from Lion City, Spacedays.

With a mission to re-create the 70s experimental space rock sound, the trio consisted of Mamat (Guitar/Vocals), Wan (Bass/Vocals), and Shaks (Drums),

They evolved into a spectacular catastrophic turn of events and from then on, the "Space" frontiers begin. With influences from the classic band such as Jimi Hendrix Experience, Grand Funk Railroad, Straydogs (SG) along with the trippy sound of Pink Floyd & The Doors. The boys sought out to re-create what was thought to be the new school of old school.

CHARADE

Coming out from the ashes of several bands like CESSPIT, STEELIES, MINUS, and THICKSKIN, they formed in 1997 and are influenced by the British underground street music from the early 80s.

DUB SKANK'IN HIFI SOUNDSYSTEM PRESENTS
HEAVYWEIGHT DUB,BLISTERING SKA & ROOTS REGGAE

With live performances by:

Gaining recognition from local gig organizer, these boys grabs any opportunities that comes their way. Progressing seems visible for the band they will never stop even though they are satisfied.Still wanting to inspire and be heard, these boys continues composing songs and making you dance. Their influences ranges from the old rock and roll band the beatles to the likes of Mando Diao, a modern rock and roll band.

These boys are determined to make it big and they will never stop believing.

The Pinholes is the band you'd wanna bring home to your family. This four-piece has breathed new life into the Singapore Rock & Roll left void by the Legends of Golden Venus. The Pinholes' zany, high-energy live performances and playful, hard rocking psychedelica tunes have earned them many friends/fans/families and a cult following in constituencies like Bukit Gombak, Bandung (Indonesia), Bukit Bintang (Malaysia) and Austin (USA). And yes, they do house parties too. Book them now to avoid disappointment. Remember: good, clean fun for the whole family!

An avid ska/punk band since early 1999, FPM is majorly influenced by the Japanese ska/punk melodious ska beats. With unique and addictive sounds, FPM was accepted by the local scenesters. They were given the chance to play in the same stage as other great ska bands in Singapore and Malaysia like Fairy Goat Mudder, Useless Espionage, Air Sick Pilots, 73, Plague of Happiness, Kluk Kluk Adventure, GSC and more. Started out as a 3-piece ska punk band, FPM found that they could enhance their sound by adding more members in the Munkee family tree. Throughout the years, there were a few that came and go. But the remaining members of FPM are very thankful for having them in their band as they have contributed a lot of effort and energy in the band. Wherever they are right now, they will never be forgotten. FPM's current line up compromises of Fid(vox and guitar), Ogy(drums), joshiO(bass), Nahar@Bear(trumpet), Lil Hafiz(sax) and Ben(trombone). FPM hit the recording studio in the year 2000 to record their EP. There were ups and down in the journey of FPM in the ska scene in spore. Some find FPM too "aggro" for a ska band, some just don't understand the music at all. Yet FPM still maintain their style and soon more seems to appreciate their music.

Ras Irie - roots reggae (vinyl set)
